Do people who get sex changes get to keep their old "junk" in a jar as a souvie?
Maybe leave it on the mantle or shelf as a memento of their former self? Good conversation starter to bring out when the party gets dull? Novelty paperweight?
No.
There is actually very little 'junk' left over after these procedures; most of the external tissue is refashioned and repositioned.
The tissue that IS removed is, for trans women, the testicles, the spongy tissue from the shaft of the penis, a few inches of urethra, and about 3/4 of the head of the penis.
For trans men, the uterus, cervix and ovaries are removed (and, of course, the breast tissue, but this procedure usually occurs separately, and fairly early in transition).
In either case, the 'old junk' is barely enough tissue to fill a teacup, and wouldn't be recognisable; it would just be a handful of squishy red stuff.
(Just for the record, my 'old junk' was donated to medical research; apparently there's a shortage of healthy genital tissue for this purpose.)
