The Chinese have a very rich traditional and cultural heritage, which goes back to faraway times. It is recorded in the annals of history that the Chinese ethos has its origins in the most ancient and the most multifaceted civilizations ever seen by humanity.

During the Chinese festivities associated with their New Year, a countless number of things exist, which the Chinese avail of, to bring fortune and joy for the coming year. With regard to the gala surrounding the spring festival, an extensive variety of foods are available that are recognized as happiness symbols.

It is widely acknowledged that this New Year of the Chinese people denotes merriment and is a festivity where all the family comes together and share some good times. To the Chinese, this occasion brings with it joy, fortune and well-being to each family member.

Occasionally a coin is inserted into a few dumplings and there is this belief that the individual who sinks his teeth into it will receive riches in the coming New Year. In addition, dumplings and yellow noodles when prepared in combination represent "golden filaments through gold bars". In Suzhou, Hangzhou, and Shanghai, egg dumplings are attractively served and consumed, as they appear very similar to gold bars.

5) The Oyster

Wonderful tidings are what the oyster signifies. It is a common custom in the southern China, to serve oysters with rice noodles, which are very fine.

6) The Green Vegetables

These green vegetables signify strengthening of intimate family bonds because they denote closeness or intimacy.

7) Sticky Rice Cake

Made from rice flour and topped with red dates, the steamed cake is a sign of getting additional wealth and status for the forthcoming New Year of the Chinese.

Bloke gets horrifically injured in a road accident. In the recovery room the doc tells him that the medical staff did wonders with the surgery but it has left him without any ears. The only offer they could give him for replacement ears are a dog’s ear and a pig’s ear. He agrees to the operation and it was a success.
Six months later he visits the doc so that they could monitor his condition. When asked about the ears he says, “Well, the dogs ear, perfect, I can hear a pin drop over a mile away”
‘Wow’, the doc replies ‘and the pigs ear?’
“Not so good doc”, he replies, “I get a bit of crackling in that one every now and then”.

Most Mac retailers don't sell any used parts. They may sell used computers, but from my knowledge they get new replacement parts directly from Apple and (sometimes) sell it at wholesale. So far the best bet may be ebay.

I myself was looking for this connector that attaches from the back of a 15" LCD Studio Display to the back foot that supports it. The cheapest I found was $35 for this little part! I searched ebay and some places from doing a yahoo search, but it still wasn't cheap. I'm just gonna settle for getting this odd guitar stand that would support the monitor, and that's $10.

When you do your search on yahoo type in "(apple,mac) parts" (no quotes), and see what you find. If you find the part number you can try searching that on ebay, or if you know the correct name for the part, search on ebay using that. Good luck in your search!

The Chinese Guardian Lion, which is the Lion you see in these sculptures is an image passed on from India. Where Lions were indigenous. Lions never lived in China.

So it is based on the Asiatic Lion. And we have Buddhism to thank for their arrival in China (in appearance). As when Buddhism went East, it brought stories of the Lions.

I would doubt any Chinese ever saw a Live Lion though. There could have been occasions in which Lions were brought to China in captivity. But that's unlikely. And then only the wealthy would have seen them.

Though you can see that the Chow Chow strongly resembles one. And is one of the oldest breeds of Dogs. That existed in Northern China, and Mongolia.

And being a Dog, it can be easily conceived to be a Guardian. As Dogs were good at that.

And then, they are also not extinct. Asiatic Lions still exist, granted there are only a few thousand.

What if our trading psychology allowed us to trade with the above quote in mind? What would it be like if we traded as if thoughts and feelings that we have about the market and our trades were simply fleeting events that had little significance? Take a moment to think about this. Thoughts and feelings are not reality. If we treated each thought and feeling as if it were a passing memory rather than something we feel compelled to act on, how would our trading be different?

Trading Would Be Different

Rather than cutting a winner short when our mind says, "You better take the (small) profit because the market might come back against you," we note that thought for simply what it is: a few words that quickly become nothing more than a fleeting memory. If that were the case, then we might hold the trade to its profit target. And, rather than hesitating when we have the fearful thought, "if I enter this trade I'll have a loss," we note that thought for what it is (again, a string of momentary words) and we take the trade.

If traders weren't governed by what their mind and feelings were telling them, then their trading might improve in several ways. For example, they would trade with less stress, they would have less fear in taking trades, they would take well-defined trades without self doubt, and they would position themselves for greater profits. These positive results could be accomplished by treating each thought and feeling as simply a passing memory rather than a truth we must obey.

Mindfulness For Traders

Mindfulness helps us do exactly that - see each thought and feeling as a short-lived memory, nothing more. It is a skill known as "defusion." Defusion simply means a capacity to decenter from thoughts and feelings. Rather than looking through our thoughts as if they were tinted glasses coloring our world, we hold our thoughts out at arm's length, so to speak, and look at our thoughts rather than look through them. Mindfulness cultivates the mental space which allows us to do just that.

Benefits For Traders

The big advantage is that when mindful, we can take action on what matters most to us in a given trade rather than slavishly respond to what the mind says. That means taking important trading actions such as holding onto a winning trade, setting a stop, or pulling the trigger on a sound setup rather than becoming hijacked by thoughts and feelings and doing things we later regret.

Mindfulness Tips

To get started with mindfulness, follow these guidelines:

• Make it a daily routine and practice when you won't be disturbed.
• Sit upright and comfortably, limbs uncrossed - a chair is fine.
• Watch your breath as your abdomen rises and falls or as the air flows across the tips of the nostrils. Keep your focus on the breath, that's all there is to it.
• Notice how the mind wanders repeatedly. Become aware of when the mind wanders and bring it back to the breath. This is the task of mindfulness.
• Keep sessions 5-10 minutes to begin; extend the time with experience.

Keep in mind that you can be mindful anywhere and in any situation. Simply note when your mind has slipped off of whatever it is you are engaged in and gently return it to the present. Mindfulness can be a powerful trading psychology skill when developed through practice.

Soybeans are king of the speculative trading "soy" complex. The complex includes soybeans, soymeal and soybean oil. Soymeal is used primarily as feed. Poultry and cattle producers use the majority of soymeal. The majority of soybean oil is used for cooking and salad oil.

For about $1200 of account margin you can control a 5,000 bushel contract of Soybeans worth about $35,000. A 10 cent move equals $500. (example: a move from 750 to 760)

For about $600 you can control 60,000 pounds of soybean oil worth about $16,000. A $1 move equals $600. (example: 28 to 29)

For about $900 you can control 100 tons of soymeal worth about $20,000. A full 10 point move equals $1000. (example: 210 to 220)

As you can see, you are permitted the privilege of tremendous leverage. There is great potential for both profit or loss if you choose to use it. Bear in mind you are NOT required to use leverage and may deposit all or any part of the contact's value into your account. For example, if you maintain $35,000 in your account for one contract of soybeans, you have 100% of the soybean contract covered and essentially are not trading on leverage

Recently, soybean oil has attained notoriety as an alternative fuel source. (Bio-diesel) Similar attention goes to corn / ethanol fuels.

There is a trading strategy based on the processing of soybean products. It's called a "crush" spread. It works by buying one soybean contract; then sell one soybean oil and one soymeal contract. To profit, you want the soybean contract to gain on the soybean oil and meal contracts. A "spread" is the difference between the two legs.

There is also a "reverse crush" spread. You would sell one soybean contact; then buy one soybean oil contract and buy one soy meal contract. Notice that one soybean contract ($35,000) is worth roughly the same value as an oil and meal contract.($16,000 and $20,000) Thus, this is a reasonably balanced spread.

Soybeans, soybean oil and soymeal futures all tend to trend in the same direction but still have different patterns and habits. It's a good idea to buy the strongest of the three and sell the weakest of the three. One way to determine the strongest is to watch the chart's rising bottoms in an uptrend. Pick the commodity making the highest bottoms. You want the one with the most inclined stair step uptrend. This is the strongest of the group to buy. You can also see this evidence when comparing a sideways bottom formation between the three. Reverse this for analyzing a topping area to sell short.

For the serious trader, soybean complex futures and options are one of the top trading commodities. They have it all; liquidity, volume, open interest and great moves up and down. The charts show many classic patterns. Look for triangles, head and shoulders, breakouts, spikes and gaps. Soybeans can be a chartist's dream. Beans also exhibit regular seasonal and cyclic patterns to use as rough guidelines.

The soybean market often trends for long periods of time because it's based on a specific crop. In the last forty years, the lowest price was in 1968 at $2.38 a bushel. The all-time high is 1973 at $12.90.

The rallying cry of the bean bulls has been "Beans in the teens!" It may happen one day.

In the last five years, Brazil and Argentina have become big soybean producers. Their seasonal harvests are the reverse of the U.S. American traders need to keep an eye on our southern neighbor's production and growing seasons. Some say soybeans will never approach the old highs because of these new suppliers in the market. Never say never.

Of course, weather is a major market mover. During the summer, big moves can occur around monthly or weekly reports. Selling into these reports can be profitable. Fifty-cent limit moves ($2500) are not unusual when the market is rolling and a report comes out.

The soybean complex lends itself to all types of different strategies in options and futures. Spreads, straddles, strangles and synthetics are all good ways to trade when the forecast is high probability.

The CBOT has recently started trading electronically as well as overnight in a shortened session. At this time, all soybean complex options continue to be pit traded.

Wheat Futures and options are probably the most volatile of the grain group. Wheat can move very quickly. Wheat is better suited to an intermediate level commodity trader wanting quicker results and more risk. Wheat futures and options can trade counter to corn and soybeans. This is probably because rain is not as important to wheat as to corn and soybeans.

Over the last forty years, wheat has traded as low as $1.20 in the late 1960's and as high as $7.50 in the mid 1990's. One dollar a bushel moves can occur when the market is active. ($5,000) Hang on to your hat when trading wheat. There is an old trader's adage that goes, "Don't sell your wheat until it boils!" It's true that wheat has a tendency to end a bull campaign with fireworks and spike tops. Panic shortages are unique to commodities. Shortages rare in the stock market.

When it comes to Feng Shui, there are various elements that you can incorporate into your living space in order to bring good fortune. There are five Feng Shui elements: fire, earth, metal, water and wood. Each of the five elements relates to a different area of your life. Fire relates to your career, earth relates to your relationships and water relates to your wealth.

Everybody can benefit from wealth, right? With today's society becoming increasingly more expensive to live in, wealth is one element in life that most of us would like to enhance. I have a plate that has writing on the back of it and i dont know what it says. My aunt is really into anitques but said she didnt know what she would do with it and since i love horses she though i would like it. Because our society has evolved from democratic to a more capitalistic society, it is sad to see everybody going from a neighbor helping neighbor society, to who can screw who out of money by selling you something just short of fraud. You are never going to be able to do what your description of independence is because of this, even the government writes the laws to get "anticipated revenue" , they don't write laws to protect you and society anymore, they write them to protect them and their money. Just a few weeks ago I wrote a great piece on gold. I told you it was time to buy.  If you followed my advice, you're a bit richer today for it. Just a few weeks after that article, gold rallied.  The trade I suggested surged 19.5% in value... Not bad!

Unfortunately, I know some investors actually lost money making the same trade.  They made a mistake many beginning gold traders make. They bought the wrong thing.  Instead of harvesting 20% gains, they're sitting on losses.

I'll tell you about this big mistake later on.  First a little more on why I still like gold. Back in January, gold was trading around $900 an oz.  Five weeks later it was trading over $1,000 an oz.  Now gold's retraced a bit and is trading around $930 an oz... a perfect time to buy more (or establish a new position).

Why do I think now's the time to buy gold?  Let me refresh your memory.

Reason #1 - US Dollar Overload

We're in a tough economic environment.  To boost economic growth, the Fed's doing two things.  Cutting interest rates to nearly zero.  And, flooding the market with dollars. My big concern is all the easy money Bernanke and Co. is pumping into the economy.  The numbers are now in the trillions.  To do this, they've had to run their currency printing presses 24/7.

All of this easy money is in high demand... for now. Once the tide changes, we'll see the value of the US Dollar plummet. That'll stampede investors into the safety of gold. But, that's not the only reason.

Reason #2 - Skyrocketing Inflation

Printing all these new dollars seriously raises the risk of inflation down the road.  It's like the bad hangover after a crazy New Year's party.  You knew you shouldn't have done that last round of tequila shots... but at the time it sounded like such a great idea.

That's what's going on right now with all the easy money.  It sounds great now, but later on it's going to be nothing but trouble.

Inflation is a major shot to our purchasing power.  And that means our dollars will fall in value.  Suddenly everything will cost more from bread to milk to machines.  This in my mind is the biggest threat to the stability of the US economy.

The best way to fight inflation is by owning gold.

But we won't be the only ones buying.

Reason #3 - Gold demand from China

China is the world's fastest growing economy.  As in the U.S., Chinese investors also buy gold as a hedge against inflation. Recently, the Shanghai Exchange introduced an easy way for Chinese investors to buy gold.  Demand was off the charts.  With more than four times the population of the US, we're going to be competing in a big way to buy gold.

And with simple supply and demand, prices have only one way to go!

Reason #4 - Falling supply

Most investors don't know this, but the amount of gold available to trade is actually falling.  See, some of the gold ETFs actually purchase and store gold.  This removes the shiny metal from circulation, decreasing supply. Once again, another reason prices will move higher.

I could go on and on, but I think you get the point.  If you follow my thought process and agree... then you probably want to add some gold to your portfolio.  Unfortunately some first time gold traders are making a big mistake.

A mistake that could cost them big money.

The big mistake is buying gold coins.  Many investors still feel the best way to invest in gold is through coins.  There are coin stores all over the country who will sell coins produced by various governments.  These coins include Krugerrands issued by South Africa, or Canadian Maple Leafs issued by... well... Canada.

Now, I know many long term gold bugs are cringing right now. Give me a minute and let me explain why buying gold coins is a mistake... Here are three quick reasons. First, buying and selling coins can be difficult.  Pricing is difficult and there's no national pricing mechanism.  Also the Bid/Ask spread can be huge.

Don't believe me?  The next time you're in a coin store ask what it costs to buy a Krugerrand... then ask what they'll pay for that same coin.  After you pick yourself up off the floor you can send me a letter of thanks.

Second, when you buy coins, you're not just buying gold.  These coins sell for more than the metal they're made with.  The condition of the coin can be a big factor in price.  One scratch on the surface of your coin and the value could plummet.  Think about it, gold prices could skyrocket and you could still lose money buying coins.

Finally, you need to store that gold somewhere.

If you want to put a meaningful portion of your portfolio in gold you'd have a small problem.  Where do you put thousands, or hundreds of thousands of dollars in gold?  It's not exactly something you bury in the backyard.  Think of all the additional insurance, or the added cost of a safe.

Now, I'm not saying owning a few coins is a bad idea.  I have a few coins in my vault at home.  But smart traders are now investing in gold with ETFs. These ETFs are based on the price of gold and can be quickly bought and sold.  Prices are well established (as are bid/ask spreads) and volume is robust.  You can also easily buy and sell them from your own trading account right now. In my opinion, the best way to invest in gold is through ETFs.  Trust me it will save you big headaches (and possibly some money) down the road.

1) don't pawn. ebay is a good idea, but try craigslist.org first (it's free!).

2) selling your mom's stuff doesn't guarantee you that you'll get out of debt, and stay out of debt. research shows that the harder it is for you to get OUT of debt, the less likely you are to get back IN to debt. that's why people who use equity in their house to pay off their consumer debt get right BACK into debt a few years later. because it was too easy!

3) do NOT consolidate your debt into one loan. that is horrible for your credit, and will make it take LONGER to pay everything back. instead, write out all of your debt from smallest balance to largest balance. start on the smallest card/debt first. once it's paid, add the payment to the next debt in line, and keep going! by the time you get to the largest balance you will be able to pay it off quickly because of the new large payments. you MUST have a clear plan for the profits from the coat, watch, etc. otherwise, you'll be tempted to celebrate the sale!

4) no celebrations until all your debt is paid! and then, you have to do THAT celebration without spending money!

What is tanzanite?

Unique. Rare. Beautiful. Blue. These are all words that can be used to describe the gemstone tanzanite. So, what exactly is it? This gemstone is made up of calcium aluminum silicate and is actually a member of the zoisite family of gemstones. But, because of its rarity and sheer beauty, it gets its own category.

Ages ago, metamorphic rock began forming a flat-topped hill at the base of Kilimanjaro. It formed inside this hill and the gemstone world has never been the same again. The local people as well as the jewelry industry fell in love with the shades of blue and purple found in them.

Where does it come from?

Unfortunately, there is only one location where this tantalizing gemstone can be found. Mine deposits are located at the base of Kilimanjaro in the Merelani Hills of Tanzania. As a result, they are quite rare, particularly large stones and stones of exceptional quality. If you can get your hands on a natural stone, don't hesitate to snatch it up. You will pay for it, but it will be worth it to have this rare gem.

Birthstone for December

This rarely happens, but in 2002 the American Gem Trade Association named it as an official birthstone for December. If you are lucky enough to receive a tanzanite ring for your birthday, take good care of it. The rarity of this stone makes it a great heirloom.

How to care for your gemstone jewelry

This gemstone is more delicate than other popular stones like the ruby or topaz. It rates a 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale of hardness, which means it is fairly soft. An opal rates a 5. So, never place tanzanite necklaces or other pieces in an ultrasonic cleaner or use harsh chemicals to clean them. Warm water and gentle soap will get the job done. Soak it and then polish it with a soft cloth.
